Why do you need to use Conditioner?  Shampoo opens up the hair/fur shaft, allowing beneficial shampoo ingredients to do their job.  If the hair shaft is left open, natural oils and moisture will escape.  If you never use conditioner, your dog's coat/hair can become dull and brittle, which can lead to itching and scratching.  Follow shampoo with conditioner to close and smooth the hair cuticle and restore moisture.  The conditioner leaves the coat shiny and soft and moisturizes the skin.
